Ideas For Valentines Day Gifts

If you have a look around the shopping malls you will see that there are lots of advertisements for gifts for your Valentine. The question is which one do you buy?

How well do you know your Valentine? Have you been together days, weeks, months or years? What you spend your money on may be dependent on the length of your relationship.

I admit that I am a bit of a romantic. I like to spoil my husband at opportune moments. I have cooked him 3 course gourmet meals, massaged him after a weary day at work and we have been known to share a bubble bath complete with a nice cold glass of white wine. I have put together my list of romantic gift ideas for you and your loved one to make Valentines Day a special occasion for you both.

Flowers always get received well. But, you do not have to spend a small fortune on a dozen red roses:-

*A single red rose is just as welcome and some women feel that it is also very romantic. If you feel like spending a little bit more why not team it with a cute teddy bear, box of chocolates or even her favorite perfume.

*As an alternative to the red rose why not buy a potted plant;

*Seeds or bulbs. You can plant these in the garden together and enjoy the color when they flower

*Artificial Flowers are a good alternative, particularly if your Valentine has an allergic reaction to pollen!

*Make up a gardening hamper with a book on gardening, some seeds and bulbs, a pair of gloves and maybe a voucher offering your services

A vacation or a weekend away is an excellent idea. But, you may need to discuss it with your partner first as they may have work or family commitments that cannot be rearranged. You also need to check that they are fine with the sleeping arrangements, particularly if you have not been together long. They may not wish to share a room with you so early on in the relationship.

Can you afford the trip? If you invite your valentine away then he/she may assume that you are paying. Make sure that you make it clear to them what you are expecting them to pay towards, if anything. I am sure that they would not be happy if you took them away to a secluded island which cost a lot of money and you expected them to pay half!

Let Food Be The Language of Love.

*Book a table at your favorite restaurant but be aware that you may have to book several weeks in advance for popular restaurants and that your date will like the food.

*Cook a meal at home. It does not have to be something extravagant, just something that you will both enjoy. Perhaps you could cook it together. A few candles and some soft music will make your evening even more romantic.

*Have food delivered to your door and watch a movie. No cooking or tidying away dirty plates after wards; more time to spend with each other. Fill a basket with a DVD of their favorite movie, popcorn and a bottle of wine, dim the lights and settle down for a cozy night in together.

*Picnic down by the river. If the weather turns cold or it starts to rain gather up your hamper and go back to your place to eat. Tip: make sure that you have tidied up before you go out!

A day out at a sporting event or concert. If you do not already know ask your Valentine if there is a particular sporting event or concert that they are interested in? Purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment on the day.

A trip to the theater/cinema or opera. Ask your Valentine if there is anything at the theatre or cinema that they would like to see and purchase tickets. Perhaps you could go for dinner after the show.

Hot Air Balloon/Helicopter Ride. A hot air balloon or helicopter ride is an expensive gift so make sure that your Valentine does not mind heights! You could take him/her on a scenic trip over the city that you live in or perhaps over the countryside and then cozy up afterwards and discuss it over coffee.

A day at a health spa or pampering session. What a nice way to make your Valentine feel special. Take some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have some relaxing time together at a health spa. This will need to be planned ahead particularly if you have children, you will need to find someone to look after them for you. If you do not have the time to spend a full day at a health spa you could arrange for a couple of pampering treatments. Some beauty parlors let you pay for treatments in advance and may even provide you with a voucher to present to your Valentine on Valentines Day.

If you are on a tight budget or you would like to give your Valentine something unique you could try one of the following:

Homemade candles. Kits can be bought from the craft shop and you make your own, choosing the color and scent if you wish.

Journal or Scrapbook. Write a journal of the time that you have been together; include photographs of the two of you, postcards of places that you have visited and poems. You can both sit down and read it and reminisce about the times that you have shared.

Compile a CD with your favorite music on. If there are some love songs that remind you of special moments that you have shared why not compile a CD with them on. You could also design a cover which will make it even more unique.

Whatever you decide to do I am sure that your Valentine will feel that they are the most special person in your life on the most romantic day in the year.

A Guide for Choosing Perfect Valentine's Gift Jewelry

Love fills the air with its fragrance when emotions flow from your sweetheart’s eyes. This is the day when nothing can and nothing will stop two hearts from beating together. Both hearts find the rhythm of love and cozily find peace in each other’s feelings, especially on Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is the day long ago when two great martyrs gave their lives. The name of this day hails from the names of these two great Christian martyrs named Valentines.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of February, all over the world. Expression of love can’t be confined to some material things such as gifts; still this day is characterized by various gift ideas. There are several Valentine’s day gift available in the market. But we need to gift someone very sensibly and when it comes to such an occasion then it becomes all the more important.

Gifting Jewelry

A Valentine’s day gift is not like any other gift. We should not just gift our valentine anything we want. Rather we should gift that special someone something that carries our emotions and also shows it. Because even though we can express our love in words, the expressions might not last as a memory, whereas a gift will.

There are various Valentine’s gift ideas which present the opportunity to win the hearts of valentines. Let’s look at some good choices.

Gifts for Her

A valentine gift that is always loved and appreciated by the women is jewelry. It has been the delight of women for ages. And if someone special presents them jewelry on this special day then it becomes all the more precious.

With the gaining popularity of Valentine’s gifts on this special day there are many shops that are emerging with new ideas. Even the competition has also grown and thus nowadays you can find cute independent ‘jewelleries’ like you can find selling on eBay, that are light on your pockets also and they are fabulous too.

In jewelry, look for these qualities.

1. For diamonds, look for: color, cut, clarity and carat. Carat weight refers to not size but weight that makes the carat. See what your money can buy. Cut refers to the cut that gives the diamond its most brilliant aspect. Check the cut and sparkle. Color refers to checking the color scale to see how white your diamond is. D is the whitest and best, clean and brilliant. Z has the most yellowish coloring, dull. And clarity refers to how many inclusions (or flaws) are in the diamond. The less the flaws, the rarer the diamond, as a general rule of thumb.

2. For gold: look for the karat quality.

3. For gemstones: check with the jeweler to see if the gemstones are natural or synthetic or laboratory-created. And see if they have been treated and will need special care and handling.

It’s All in the Timing!

Of all the gifts that are available in the market place today, Valentine’s gifts for women are some of the most easily accessible. But not to forget that gifting properly is also a very important aspect of gifting someone. The time and the place in which you will gift your Valentine the jewelry also matters. The timing of the gift matters a lot in upholding the value of the gift. It is always better to add a surprise element in your gift that you will be giving to your sweetheart. This will make her cherish the gift for ever.

Romantic Valentines Day Gifts-America Produces Large Amounts Of Romantic Gifts

The U.S. Census Bureau keeps more facts than you can imagine. Well, most people can't imagine why they track so many items and create the statistics that they hear. However, many of them give you a sense of amazement when you hear them.

For example, over 6,000 couples get married everyday in the USA. That's a lot of rice being thrown. And that adds up to over 2.2 million marriages every year. Now I can begin to fathom why we have so many bridal magazines. That many nuptials every year support a huge bridal industry.

Hallmark research tells us that over 192 million Valentine's Day cards are given every year. That makes this holiday the second most popular occasion for sending greeting cards. The funny twist about all these cards is that 60 percent of them are bought in the last six days before Valentine's Day.

The U.S. Census Bureau also found that 145,800 couples were married in Nevada in 2004. Even though Nevada ranks 35th in population, they rank 4th nationally in performing marriages. Unfortunately, they have not kept any figures on how many Elvis impersonators presided at those marriages.

The average American ate 4.7 pounds of candy in 2004. 43,379 employees made chocolate at 1,271 locations in 2003. California has 146 chocolate manufacturers which puts them at the most of any state.

If you don't love chocolate like the air you breathe, you can get your non-chocolate candy from the 519 places that make it. However, the chocolate industry produced $13.5 billion dollars compared to the non-chocolate confectionary industry which produced only $5.5 billion.

You can buy candy at 3,523 candy and nut stores in the United States. So if you can't find a place to buy candy for Valentine's Day, then you are just not looking hard enough.

California produces about 75 percent of the $422 million wholesale flower production industry. In 2003 the USA had over 22,000 florists which employed 113,270 people. So if you are not getting good service from the florist that you've been using, you can try the other 22,000.

The floral surprise is that in 2004 only $43 million was spent on roses versus $78 million for lilies. But that does not mean that you should give lilies for Valentine's Day. Stick with the roses because you'll have a better outcome.

Valentine's Day has produced an industry that exists to help you create a memorable passionate event. Let this time of romance inspire you. To create more romance in your life, use February to plan romantic weekends in the months of April, July, and October. You deserve to have romantic events in your life all year long.

The Perfect Valentines Day Gift

Valentine’s Day is traditionally a day that celebrates love, particularly that of the courtly, romantic and erotic kind. What is the ideal gift? This is a question that ultimately, only the giver and recipient can answer for themselves, although I certainly have some suggestions, but first a little history of Valentines Day.

The origins of Valentine’s day aren’t entirely clear. There is a strong connection to the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia, which was held on the ides of February and dedicated to the god of fertility, Faunus. Valentinus was apparently an early Christian priest who, during the reign of Claudius II, performed secret marriages for young people during a time when the Roman emperor had outlawed the sacrament. Valentinus was later executed, becoming a martyr and eventually a saint.

The decision to celebrate the saint’s day on February 14th may have been an attempt to “Christianize” the popular Lupercalia festival, although many vestiges of the original pagan customs remain. The first recorded Valentine gift was a poem, composed by the Duke of Orleans in 1415 as he was held prisoner in the Tower of London following the Battle of Agincourt. Meanwhile, the English king who put him there - Henry V - hired a writer named John Lydgate to compose a Valentine message to his future queen, Catherine of Valois. The custom of exchanging affectionate notes grew over the next half-millennium, and remains one of the most popular Valentine expressions today.

The most popular Valentines Day presents today are cards, candy and flowers. Of course, the tradition of exchanging cards is a very old one as we’ve seen – but while these appeal to the heart, erotic love is still very much about the senses. Since its introduction into Western culture (it was unknown outside of Mesoamerica prior to the late 16th Century), chocolate in all its forms has become the most popular confection on the planet. Not only does it taste wonderful, the substance contains chemical compounds that act on the brain in ways that release endorphins – the same chemicals that surge through our bodies when we fall in love. Small wonder that gift baskets full of gourmet chocolates are always appreciated.

Scent is another sense that has great bearing on feelings of eroticism. Since time immemorial, men and women alike have used the juices of flowers and other plants to make themselves smell attractive, and of course pheromones – subtle, almost undetectable molecules of scent given off by all mammals – have been a signal of sexual receptivity for millions of years. Is it possible that the use of perfumes and colognes are attempts to amplify or imitate the effects of pheromones? I think so, which is why I recommend gift baskets filled with herbal soaps and aromatic candles. Not only might these finely scented gifts tune into a more carnal instinct, they will also certainly be appreciated and used making them a wonderful gift sure to inspire a big smile.

Of course, we cannot forget color. Although it may vary from one culture to the next, in the West, pink, white and red have been the traditional colors of love – white for purity, pink for emotion, and red for sexuality. It’s why roses of those colors are always so popular on Valentines Day. I would suggest flowers as a wonderful gift for Valentines Day, although remember that flowers should only be an opener, you must be able to do at least one better than flowers. I would also recommend trying to bring all your gifts together with one theme. For instance if you have gotten white and pink flowers, try finding gift baskets in just those colors, thus tying all your gifts together.

Most importantly remember that personalized gifts mean more than anything else. Be sure that each gift has its own meaning and is special. This can be ensured by you the giver – if you haven’t already, create a reason why you are giving each gift, it will make each one that much more special.

Make Valentines Day Extra Special This Year

Romance is the one language that the heart knows and understands best. That is why we even have a special day to celebrate it every year! All relationships require at least some effort to keep the flames of passion burning high.

Romance is sexy and powerful and for most of us, very necessary to our lives. When we show the special person in our lives that they are special to us, it is called romance.

Even though men and women come from different 'planets' and they have their own ideas about what romance is, no matter what planet you are from, it just feels so good when someone you love go out of their way to spoil you.

Whichever way you choose to go about romancing your loved one, Valentines Day should not center around the giving of expensive gifts. This year, to make your Valentines Day extra special, why not do things a little different to the way you would normally do? Give the special gift of time and togetherness and special care instead of expensive presents.

In 5 years time, what do you think your partner will have the fondest memories of? The gold jewelry you bought them or the special way you made them feel?

Valentines Day Activities

Plan to spend a relaxing time at home instead of having to rush to and from places! Instead of going out to a restaurant or a movie theater, why not bring Valentines Day to your own home?

Love Notes

The night before Valentines Day, hide little love notes and little chocolates or candy in your loved ones car or briefcase so that they will find it on their way to work or while at work.

Watch a Valentines Day Sunrise!

Start your Valentines Day activities off by watching the beautiful miracle of a sunrise! How much more romantic can the start to your Valentines day be if you find a quiet place to sit and just be together, while sipping a cup of hot coffee from a thermos!

Bubble it up!

If you get up to watch the sunrise, you will probably have a bit of time available before either one of you have to rush off to work.

Spend a bit of time and enjoy a nice hot shower or a fragrant bubble bath together.

Have a good breakfast together if time permits.

Order in!

Instead of spending your time cooking, order in! Place an order for the food that your partner enjoys and have it delivered at a specific time. That way, you get to relax too! While you wait for your food order to be delivered, put on some romantic music to listen to in the background. Light some candles to set a romantic mood.

Pour some wine or champagne, and cuddle on the sofa or lay out a soft and cozy blanket in front of a roaring fire. Sneak little kisses in between sips of wine or champagne.

Dance!

Enjoy a slow dance together. Slow dancing is a great way to spend quality time together without having to say a word. Listen to the music and just open yourself up to the magic of being together.

Have a movie marathon on a big screen!

Have a movie marathon watching the movies that your loved one will enjoy, all in the comfort of your own home. Rent a big screen TV for the day and turn it into your own home theatre! Cuddle together on a big sofa, holding hands and sharing some laughs or tears watching a variety of movies.

Laugh it up!

a) If your partner is not the movie watching kind, rent some funny TV games, pull out the Play Station. Play against one another and be a kid again! You will probably find that it is the best fun you have had in a while!

b) Get some Red and White blackboard chalk and write love messages to each other on a wall in your apartment. Draw big hearts with arrows through it. Build your own Love Grafitti Wall! (The wall will clean up easy enough when you need it to - just wipe with a damp cloth).

Remember the saying: It's not that you don't play because you're too old, you get old because you don't play!

Above all, make sure that you cuddle and hug and laugh for the day.

Do not bring up old gripes or insecurities, there are 364 other days of the year for that!

Enjoy your Valentine's Day!
